Julian Serra

I’m Julian, an engineer turned product builder living in Mexico City. I co-founded trece so people stop leaving their health up to luck. Before that, four years at Bitso, first writing payments code, then shipping product. I still can’t help building side projects.

I’m a little obsessed with AI. I build with it every day, I’ve written about whose values it should hold, and yes, I asked it to paint me as a Renaissance nobleman. But the place I think it matters most is healthcare, arguably more than software itself. Medical reasoning is becoming abundant, and the last mile of labs, pharmacies and doctors already exists. What’s missing is the connection between them. The future of healthcare is patient to agent, and that takes infrastructure. That’s what we’re building at trece.

I love being on the bike, on the golf course, and every so often at the start of a triathlon with my brothers. A torn Achilles at 31 has me off the fútbol pitch for now, but I’m working my way back, same as after the ACL at 27 (Barça runs in the family, via my Catalan grandparents). Home is Mexico City with my German Shepherds, and the best weeks end with a Guinness.
